Sepsis Alliance Connect: The Brain Under Siege: What Sepsis and Brain Injuries Share
February 26 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Date: February 26, 2026
Time: 5 PM ET/2 PM PT
Description:
This Sepsis Alliance Connect presentation is designed to support sepsis survivors who are navigating the lasting cognitive, emotional, and physical effects of a brain injury from sepsis. This program acknowledges that survival is only the beginning and that changes in memory, attention, processing speed, mood, and identity can profoundly affect daily life. Through education, shared experience, and practical strategies, attendees can gain a clearer understanding of how sepsis-related brain injury can show up and how to adapt with compassion for themselves.
A panel of sepsis survivors living with lasting cognitive effects will offer their experiences and things they have found helpful. The presenter will share functional strategies for coping with cognitive challenges, and discuss resources such as vocational rehabilitation, complementary therapies, and other programs.
Speaker:
Susan McConchie, Occupational Therapist (retired), Traumatic Brain Injury and Sepsis Survivor
