Sepsis Alliance Connect Discussion Topic: The Stress Bucket: Stressors and Coping Strategies for Sepsis Survivors and Caregivers
September 15 @ 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Date: Tuesday, September 15
Time: 8 PM ET/5 PM PT
Description:
Sepsis can leave lasting physical, emotional, and mental health challenges not only for survivors, but also for the loved ones who support them. The “stress bucket” is a helpful way to understand how everyday stressors can add up, especially when layered on top of the effects of sepsis and recovery. In this month’s discussion, we’ll explore common stressors that survivors and caregivers may experience, from changes in health and independence to uncertainty, fatigue, financial concerns, caregiving responsibilities, and the emotional impact of what they have been through. We’ll also recognize that everyone’s stress bucket looks different, and that what feels manageable one day may feel overwhelming the next.
This facilitated conversation is an opportunity to share practical coping strategies and learn from one another. We’ll discuss ways to recognize when your stress bucket is getting full and identify tools that may help release some of that pressure, such as setting boundaries, asking for help, pacing activities, prioritizing rest, staying connected with supportive people, practicing mindfulness or relaxation techniques, and making space for emotions. Whether you are a sepsis survivor or a caregiver, your experiences and insights can help others feel less alone. Join us to share what fills your stress bucket, what helps empty it, and the strategies that have supported you along the way.
Can’t join us virtually or want to get the conversation started early? Share your thoughts in the Topic of the Month post in the Sepsis Alliance Connect discussion board.
