Laura Evans

Laura Evans, MD, MSc, is a professor of medicine at the University of Washington. Her interests focus on sepsis as well as preparedness for high-consequence infectious diseases. She is particularly focused on guideline development and implementation, as well as patient safety/quality improvement. Dr. Evans is committed to helping healthcare professionals provide excellent care for patients with sepsis.
Dr. Evans earned her medical degree at the University of Michigan and did her residency in internal medicine at Columbia University. She completed pulmonary and critical care medicine fellowship training and earned a Master of Science in epidemiology at the University of Washington.
She has been involved with work on sepsis for more than 15 years. Dr. Evans joined the steering committee of the Surviving Sepsis Campaign (SSC) in 2012 and was the co-chair of the 2016 and 2021 revisions of the Surviving Sepsis Campaign adult sepsis guidelines. Additionally, Dr. Evans has done local, national, and international work on improving sepsis care.
