Sara Follin McMannus, RN, BSN, MBA

Sara Follin McMannus has been a nurse for 40 years. She earned her BSN from The University of Iowa and went on to earn a MBA from the University of Phoenix. In the course of her career, she has worked as a staff and charge nurse working in critical care. In addition, she has worked in staff development and the post anesthesia recovery unit. For the past 17 years, Sara has been the Clinical Program Manager for GE Healthcare. Her recent work in the field of education has been devoted to development of clinical education programs and new educational tools to help promote clinical excellence.

Sara has been a member of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN) since 1985 and a member of the Greater Long Beach Orange County (GLBOC) chapter serving on the Board of Directors for many years. She is also a member of Sigma Theta Tau. Sara was on the Board of Directors for Bare Root, Inc., which formed to build the Nurses Float for the 2013 Tournament of Roses Parade. The float was designed and built to honor and celebrate nurses. Sara serves on the Board of Directors for the MCN Foundation, which helps to empower communities to take control of their health implementing projects to learn and then share evidence-based knowledge with others to increase and promote healthcare based education, empowerment and job creation in rural and developing regions.

Sara is passionate about the importance of clinical knowledge, life-long learning, and helping others. When she first heard about Sepsis Alliance, she realized the importance of the organization to educate healthcare professionals and the community about sepsis. Working with the organization, she helps spread the word throughout her professional and personal life.
