Christina Lynch

Survivor

In late December 2013, I contracted sepsis after complications from weight loss surgery and MRSA, and I went into septic shock. (Sepsis and Surgery, Sepsis and MRSA) Multiple organ failure occurred and as a result, I was placed in a medically induced coma and on a respirator through a tracheotomy. With a 50% chance of survival, I coded and was revived.

After 2 weeks in the coma, My family and my church’s prayers and faith in God lead to my improved health. On January 8,2014, I awoke from the coma with a grateful heart and a new lease on life. Recovery has been long and hard, the dialysis, regaining of organ function, the ability to walk and talk, activities of daily living. (Sepsis and Post-Sepsis Syndrome) All that I’m left with is a large hernia, severe abdominal scarring and anemia. Can you say miracle!? Keep in mind many of the FacesOf Sepsis weren’t as fortunate. Many have lost their lives. Let’s raise awareness. Know Sepsis, Know the signs!
