Rebecca McKnight

Survivor

Early in February 2017 I was having different symptoms with my pregnancy. I had different red discharge that my midwives were concerned about but the doctors brushed off. My fundal height hadn’t increased and it felt as if I had no amniotic fluid.

I went into labor at 33 weeks. Both my infant daughter and I were diagnosed with sepsis. (Sepsis and Pregnancy & Childbirth) We both had transfusions and antibiotics and a lot of IV fluids. It took a long time for me to recover but my daughter only lived 12 hours. I was fortunate to hold her for 45 minutes before she passed away in my arms. I am lucky to be here for my other 4 children and husband. I feel the heartache everyday and replay the whole event in my head everyday and almost all day. We named our daughter Vivian Bluebell after her 2 great grandmas.
