Marie Plazyk

Survivor

I was happy enjoying life with my husband, 11-year old-daughter, and 7-month-old son. It hit like a brick. It started off with 2 obstructive kidney stones, followed by one procedure after another, getting sicker and sicker, and in more intense pain. I couldn’t walk or barely talk. My blood pressure dropped to 40/16. I went into shock. All I remember was lying on that bed helpless and dying. (Sepsis and Kidney Stones)

For weeks after I suffered with every breath and step I took. My lungs and heart were enlarged along with every other organ. My heart was broken because I couldn’t enjoy my family. I cried every day. I was scared. Why did this have to happen to me? Why did the doctor let this happen?

Two months later, to my surprise, I became pregnant with my beautiful daughter. I suffered the whole pregnancy without energy. My body never recovered.

One and a half years after sepsis I still suffer. I get infection after infection. My immunity is poor. I still have kidney pain. (Sepsis and Post-Sepsis Syndrome)

If it wasn’t for this web site I would have no outlook. I read the stories here and it helps me know I can get thru this.
