Jimmy Carter

Tribute

On August 3, 2014, my husband, Jimmy Carter, went to the ER complaining of pain on his lower left side. They did a CT and told my husband that he had an infection in his intestine. They kept him for 2 days. Two days later, my husband was still sick and in pain. He went back to the ER and this time, they told him that he had diverticulitis and an abscess on his colon. They drained it and put a bag on him.

A week later, they removed the bag. However Jimmy was still in a great deal of PAIN. A week later on August 25,2014, he went back to the ER they kept hijimmy_carter_4m and later that night. He went into cardiac arrest,. They brought him back and sent him to ICU, however, he wasn’t breathing on his own. Jimmy was hooked up to machines and then at that time had 3 cardiac arrest, the doctor told us that my husband was in sepsis. (I never even heard of sepsis into the morning of August 26.) My husband went into SEPTIC SHOCK. Jimmy had 4 cardiac arrests and his kidneys started shutting down.

On the early morning on August 27, 2014, Jimmy went into cardiac arrest. They worked on him for 25 minutes but could not bring him back. My husband died on August 27,2014 at 6:27 am at the age of 45. I’m a widow at the age of 35. He leaves behind our 10-year-old daughter and myself, along with his parents, siblings, and a host of friends. I’m still in total shock that he is gone.

jimmy_carter_3My heart hurts not only for myself, but for our 10-year-old daughter. My husband and I been married 13 years. Over the years we had our ups and downs, however my husband always told me that he would always love me. Now he’s loving me from Heaven. I still haven’t accepted his death and I think about him EVERY DAY. Our daughter looks and acts just like him.

I also feel that the hospital should have been caught sepsis. My husband went to the ER 3 times in the month of August. Sadly they last time he went he never walked back out. I want to share my story with others as well as donate to the Sepsis Alliance, in honor and memory of my late beloved husband Jimmy C. Carter Jr. RIP
