Bob Parsons

Tribute

My sister passed away on April 23, 2011 and five days later, on April 28, 2011, Bob finally went to the doctor and was diagnosed with pneumonia. (Sepsis and Pneumonia) The next afternoon, he  began running a high fever and had severe, shaking chills so I took him to the hospital. We spent 9 hours in the emergency room while they ran tests on him. His blood pressure was dropping while his beats per minute were all over the charts. They would go really high and then drop way low. He was given medication to calm his heart and they performed two EKGs.

Around 1 am, Bob was finally admitted to the hospital and taken to the PCU. The following morning, he was diagnosed with sepsis and taken to the ICU. Although the doctor’s treated his symptoms aggressively, Bob went into septic shock and died at 7:42 pm on Saturday, April 30, 2011.

This can come on so suddenly that you just don’t know what hit you or how to deal with this. We can only wonder what would have happened if he had gone to the doctor earlier in the week. Losing two family members within one week of each other has been extremely difficult for our family and friends. We have learned that there a lot of people, including doctors, that do not know about sepsis and what it is or how to treat it.
