Survivor

Before that horrible 10 day stay in the hospital 7 years ago, I had rarely ever heard of sepsis. I had no idea I was sick. I felt run down for weeks but of course, being a busy mom of two young children can do that. After a couple of weeks of exhaustion I started vomiting profusely shortly after my legs began hurting. It was the most painful feeling I’d ever experienced.,The pain worsened and I developed a petechiae rash.

That’s when I was taken to the ER. I passed out as soon as my blood pressure was taken. When I came to my legs looked liked I had been attacked by a shark.

My blood was no longer clotting from the toxic shock. After several tests it was determined that I had a strep throat infection that had gone septic. I never even had a sore throat. (Sepsis and Strep Throat)

It was a long road to recovery. I’m thankful for the hospital staff not only saved my life, but my limbs. I am living a normal life with only a few battle scars to show for it. I am truly blessed and thankful.
